Shri. Shiva Kumar Gowda did not panic when natural calamity struck his family and he lost his beloved mother and relatives due to the floods that took place during 1988 and was virtually thrown on streets. In spite of all the misfortunes and hardships, he kept the fire burning within him and the hunger to succeed made him to bounce back and make his mother’s prophetic words come true. She had said “My son, we must build and live in our own house and you should grow up and help others also to realize their dream”.
He took the last words of his mother “to his heart” and with a goal to achieve some-thing big, he took a stand and started his own business in Kolar and formed M/s. Karna Enterprises in 1987 under the guidance of Sri. G. J. Raja, M. D. of M/s. Maruthi Group of Companies. Later, he ventured into trading of Industrial Gases and Accessories in Bangalore, under the banner “M/s. Karna Sales Corporation” in the year 1991, with his wife Smt. K. Malini as Proprietrix. Within a span of Five years, he successfully developed and distributed over 2000 sites to economically weaker sections and middle class people on easy installments under the banner of “Friends Developers”, at affordable price and went on to launch a company “M/S Kar Na Sree Developers and Builders” in 1997-98.
Philanthropic by nature, he started Kar Na Sree Club House situated at Yemlur, Airport Road, Bangalore, for rendering service oriented services like marriages, computer education, tailoring etc to the needy. He has given an acre of land with playground, classrooms and entire infrastructure for benefit of the poor and needy children in Amruthur village, Kunigal Taluk, Tumkur. The school is run by Maruthi Educational Trust. The Trust by name “KAR NA SREE CHARITABLE TRUST” is granted special status under Section 80 G of Income Tax Act 1961. Ever since the launch of his company, “Kar Na Sree Developers and Builders”, he has been catering to different classes of people and has finished several affordable housing projects and layouts like:
